Evolution of ENBWYiACSA...

 

  • 2010

    • ENBWYiACSA registered as a cooperative with the Department of Commerce

    • 8 cooperative societies affiliate to ENBWYiACSA

    • First flower show in Kokopo to attract the attention and enthusiasm of women and stakeholders, and to raise awareness of using and growing flowers in the province.

  • 2011

    • ​Building on the experience of the first flower show, a second flower show was held in Kokopo to celebrate the launch of ENBWYiACSA.

    • 7 more cooperatives societies affiliate 

  • 2012

    • First NZ VSA Volunteer arrives to help develop Strategic Business Plan of ENBWYiACSA 

    • After the success of the first 2 flower shows, an Agricultural show was held with the support of the Gazelle District Administration.  Incorporating flowers, food, fresh produce, and livestock.  The theme was “Empowering Women to be Agriculture Business Driven” and was held in conjunction with International Rural Woman’s Day, World Food Day, and Poverty Eradication Day.  The objectives were to create business opportunities for the members, to increase awareness and promotion of the Association, and to celebrate the business activities and organisation of the Association.

    • Commence a 3 year ACIAR project on Women Business Acumen involving 2 cooperative societies

    • Invited to provide beautification of the ENB PNG Games

    • Eight more cooperatives affiliate to association

  • 2013

    • Launching of the strategic plan and the constitution.

    • Another collaborative project on crop diversification cocoa funded by the world bank involving 500 famers from 6 cooperative societies (PPAP).

    • 2 more cooperative societies affiliate, total of 25 cooperatives by the end of the year.

    • Established our own office in the NARI Keravat building with our name on the door to advertise our presence

  • 2014

    • Commence implementation of the Strategic Plan.

    • Invited to provide flowers for the Melanesian Cultural Show in Kokopo. 

    • Held a corporate dinner as a major fundraiser attracting external interest and funding. 

  • 2015

    • Second NZ VSA Volunteer arrives to assist develop relationships for market entry.

    • Beautification for the opening of the new BSP branch in Keravat.

    • 31st Cooperative Affiliates.

      We are responsible for the beautification of the Kokopo markets 

 

Currently, ENBWYiACSA is a partner in 2 research projects.  The first is an Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR) funded project titled “Examining Women’s Business Acumen in PNG: Working with Women Smallholders in Horticulture”.  Due to finish 2016, it is aimed to examine the current status of business acumen for women in PNG and explore the effectiveness of training programmes to improve business knowledge and practices of vegetable producers. 

 

The second is a World Bank funded Productive Partnership in Agriculture Projects (PPAP) collaboration with NARI titled “Gazelle WYiACS Integrated Cocoa Development Project”.  Also due to finish mid 2016, this project is focusing on improving the livelihood of cocoa producers within the Gazelle province through training on cocoa best management production, integrated farming systems and income diversification.
